What is an urgent medical condition?

An urgent medical condition is a non life threatening condition that still requires prompt attention.  Urgent care access standards are same day care depending on the severity of the condition.  A sprained ankle is an example of an urgent condition.  Other conditions include most burns, minor wounds that require stitches, back pain, chronic headaches, urinary tract infections and severe cold and flu.

The first and best course of action for urgent conditions is to contact your primary care physician’s office.  Many times the condition can be treated right in their office.  When you call with an urgent condition, make sure you request a same day appointment as your primary physician may have appointments set aside for these situations.  If your primary physician does not have any appointments available, then we welcome you to visit the GBRH Urgent Care Clinic.
